Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

1. How do you determine authenticity?

At HAUTE LC we pride ourselves on being a growing luxury circular reseller for pre-loved super-brands. All of our items go through a rigorous authentication process which includes a detailed examination by our team. For bags,  as well as a third-party microscopic authentication technology for bags.

2. Where are your items consigned from?
Our items are consigned from a combination of individuals and a network of leading fashion stylists across the country. We are in no way affiliated with the brands that are sold on our website and cannot source new products.

3. What is the returns process?
As HAUTE LC is a consignment store, all sales are final. Like other luxury resale platforms, the items we sell belong to private consignors and not to us. As such, we do not offer returns or exchanges. If you are unsure about an item, we suggest contacting a member of our team via Instagram, phone / WhatsApp or email for extra information.

4. Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Note that some international deliveries (particularly those of high value) may incur customs and duties charges which are outside of HAUTE LC’s control. Any customs charges are the sole and exclusive responsibility of the shopper. All prices shown on the HAUTE LC website are exclusive of any customs and duties which may be charged locally on import.

5. How often do you receive new stock?

We receive new stock on a daily basis.  A lot of our new stock will be featured on our Instagram stories and on our website within a day or two – this often means that a lot of our stock never makes it to the website as many of our regular followers DM us to snap it up before we upload it to the website.

6. I found something I love but it is not my size. What do I do?

Each item we receive is unique. This means that we cannot guarantee different sizes of something on our website.

7. Can HAUTE LC source items?

We do not offer a sourcing service as the items we sell are brought to us by private sellers. However, we do offer a range of styling services, including personal shopping – see our website for more information.

8. I missed out on something which I absolutely loved – can I put my name on a list if it’s available again?

Our most desirable items usually sell within minutes of us posting them. Because of the circular nature of our business, shoppers are incentivised to circulate items they have purchased through HAUTE LC within 6 months of their original purchase date, so yes we do often receive a specific item more than once. We currently don’t maintain a waiting list so do keep a regular eye on our Instagram and website. If you see an item you love, be sure to read the item description and get it whilst it’s HAUTE as it may not come up again!

9. Do you take reservations of certain goods?

Due to the volume of enquiries we receive for popular items we are unable to take reservations or operate a wishlist for specific items.

10. Who owns HAUTE LC?

HAUTE LC is the trading name of HAUTE LC Ltd (Company Number 842011), P.O. Box 24260, Edinburgh EH3 1LH

For Sellers

1. How do I sell to HAUTE LC?

We can take on your item on consignment which we will advertise on our website – see our “Sell with Us” tab on our website where you will find details of how to send / upload information and pictures of the item you wish to sell. Do that that due to the number of consignment requests we receive, we will only respond to your submission if your item is one we wish to take.  If we accept your item, we will ask for your bank details or PayPal link for sending through payment once the item is sold.

2. How are the prices determined?

We always aim to price realistically and competitively and do our utmost to ensure that we offer great value to our shoppers while at the same time ensuring that we meet our sellers’ interests. We price items on a dynamic basis meaning that we always carefully check market prices using our in-house pricing tools to make sure we maximise the value for each and every item sold through us. Our approach to pricing means that we sell stock quicker than other consignment stores.

4. Why is your commission higher than eBay and Vestiaire Collective?

HAUTE LC prides itself in providing an exclusive, professional and caring service to its shoppers and its sellers. This means that once we accept your item on consignment, it will be authenticated, individually styled, modelled, advertised and marketed through our social media platforms and website. Our exclusive client base and far-reaching platforms means that we have an incredibly high sell-through rate on items; many of which sell before even making it to our website! We therefore offer consignors a personalised service with guaranteed views of their item and maximised opportunities of sale.

5. My item has sold - when and how do I get paid?

Unlike most other consignment stores, we pay our consignors on Friday of the week their item has sold. This means that you do not have to wait months before being paid! Payment is contingent on the item being marked “delivered” to the shopper.

6. Which items are you looking to resell?

We pride ourselves in being a luxury reseller of pre-loved super-brands - such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Fendi, Gucci and Hermes.  We also offer a selection of higher end contemporary brands such as Dries Van Noten, La DoubleJ, Zimmerman, Acne Studios. Items that are current / recent season & trend-driven as well as investment pieces sell the best and fastest with us.

We accept handbags, fine jewellery, belts, watches, wallets, scarves, women’s shoes & clothing and selected homeware pieces.. This means that we only accept items that are:

  • Genuine
  • In good condition
  • By a super-brand / higher end contemporary brand

7. Which items do you not take?
We are offered lots of products every week and a % of what is offered to us. The criteria for us in taking on an item is that it is a ‘super-brand / higher end contemporary brand’ item in good condition. We do not accept items that are:

  • Non-branded vintage (e.g. crocodile bags)
  • In poor condition
  • High street items (e.g. Zara, Karen Millen…)
  • Items bought at sample sales
  • Overpriced consignments – we price competitively to achieve sale
